How can I help?
There are many ways you can help!
Prayer
Prayer is a powerful and effective tool.
- Give thanks in prayer for Jeanette, Sharon, and Children in Need Haitian Project; pray for strength, health, and energy to continue the good
work being accomplished in the rural mountain community of L'Espinasse; pray for continued resources.
- Give thanks in prayer for the teachers, children, families, and community at L'Espinasse School; pray for strength, health, wisdom, stamina,
comfort and hope; pray for a certain knowledge that people care for them and want them to succeed.
- Pray for safe travels to and from Haiti for Rita, Ann, Josie and Betsy; pray for safety when traveling within Haiti; pray for health and for resources
to fund the purchase of materials to bring to L'Espinasse School and to fund travel costs.
- Give thanks in prayer for the gifts given to support this project and for the individuals moved to do so -- THANK YOU!

Two-Fold Financial Support [directly to Children in Need Haitian Project and/or Leif Ericson Day School]
A. Consider making a financial contribution directly to Children in Need Haitian Project. What you need to know:
1. 100% of your donation goes to subsidize CINHP schools and projects. There are no administrative costs, as these services are donated.
2. Current enrollment at L'Espinasse School is 112 students, PreK thru grade 5. It costs $24,000 annually to maintain and operate the
school. In other words, the true cost to educate a child at L'Espinasse is $20 a month per child, $200 per year. In past years, families were
asked to pay $1.50 per month [$15 per year] as stakeholders in their child's education. As costs for daily supplies and goods have risen
since the 2010 earthquake, this proved difficult for many families. To ease the burden on school families, a decision was made to ask for
a $5.00 registration fee per student, nothing more. Even so, $5.00 has proved difficult for many families to pay. The balance of $235 is
subsidized by financial gifts made by generous people like you.
3. At 112 students, L'Espinasse school is beyond capacity. It is standing room only for many students, yet their parents still send them. In
the picture above, you will notice that there are no student desks or chairs. The students sit on narrow wooden benches behind narrow
wooden planks that serve as a shared desk area. A new school building is desperately needed. To meet this growing need, CINHP bought
land behind the current school building [see the picture above], staked and poured the foundation. A builder has been secured and a larger
school building, with double capacity than the current school building, will be erected. A majority of the funding needed to begin construction
of the building is in place; however, this does not include doors, windows, closets, walkways, furniture, shelving, interior and exterior
finishing work, a play area -- in other words, everything that is needed to operate an effective and efficient school. Approximately $30,000 is
needed to complete the new building which will house twice as many children as are currently enrolled.
4. Your tax-deductible gift to Children in Need Haitian Project goes a long way. A gift of:
$5 will cover this year's school registration fee for one child.
$12 will pay for one month of school-provided meals for one child. [Sharon updated the figure to reflect current food costs.]
$20 will subsidize one month's true cost of educating one child.
$120 will pay for a year's worth of school-provided meals for one child.
$240 will subsidize the true cost of educating one child for an entire year.
5. Any amount you are able to give -- $5, $10, $25, $50, $100, $500, $1,000, or more -- will greatly impact the lives of the students, families,
and faculty of L'Espinasse. Click here to make a donation directly to CINHP.
B. Consider making a tax-deductible gift, via Leif Ericson Day School, to support trip costs and/or to help buy materials [see list below].
Estimated traveling costs to, from, and within Haiti are $4,000. This does not include personal costs, e.g., vaccinations, medications [malaria
pills], extra baggage fees [to personally bring/deliver materials], etc.
Many thanks to the faith community of Leif Ericson Day School for supporting this project. ledsny.org
